Meet The Team

David Wagstaff, B.Sc FCA – Director

David has been working in the accountancy profession since 1989 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993. He has worked in the Midlands for all of this time with the majority of the time being spent working in Burton on Trent. He has an extensive knowledge of working with all forms of local businesses from the sub-contractor through to limited companies. His general practice background means that he is equally at home with both accountancy and taxation matters.

He is very keen on utilising the latest technology to help client’s get the best financial information to help them make decisions. The current trend for businesses that want to remain on the ball is using cloud based bookkeeping, which will be key in the move to Making Tax Digital. He has a working knowledge of Xero, Quickbooks and Kashflow and is a Certified Adviser for Xero and Quickbooks.

David enjoys playing golf and watching most sports.

Mark Wilebur – Client Manager

Mark started his career in accountancy back in 1979 with a practice in Ashby de la Zouch where he gained his AAT qualification. Since then he has worked in small and medium sized practices across Staffordshire towns giving him a good breadth of experience advising businesses from sole traders to multi million pound companies.

 His general practice background means he has a good working knowledge of both accountancy and taxation matters. In line with the trend towards cloud based bookkeeping he has recently become a Certified Adviser for Quickbooks.

Mark has two daughters both away at university and so now has more time to enjoy spending his leisure time swimming, cycling and visiting the coast with his wife.

Sarah Carter – Accounts Supervisor

Sarah has over thirty years of experience in book keeping and accounts,which has led to her gaining a vast amount of knowledge and expertise. Sarah has been working for this practice and its predecessor for all of her working life and is a valued team member. She has recently undertaken the role of training our apprentices, which uses Sarah’s friendly and approachable manner. Additionally, Sarah has been increasing her knowledge of Xero so that she will be able to help clients as Making Tax Digital kicks in.

In her spare time Sarah loves spending time with her family, socialising, cooking and exploring new places.

Lynn Jones – Accounts Supervisor

Lynn has been working in the accountancy profession for over 20 years, this included working for Park Associates for 8 years, prior to its acquisition by Burton Accountancy Services Limited. Before this Lynn worked for different agencies doing accountancy work and in a large company doing accounts, bookkeeping and credit control.

Lynn’s duties include Payroll, Accounts preparation, Book keeping and Vat.  She also has a working knowledge of Sage 50.

Lynn’s main interest is spending time with her Grandson.

Karen Wagstaff – Administrator

Karen is responsible for the smooth running of the administration side of the office, having work within administration and secretarial roles for many years.

Karen is quite often the first person you will see when visiting the office.

Her main interests are her children and the local Scout Group at Rolleston (where she has only recently relinquished her role as Chairman of the Executive Committee).

Isabel Belasquez – Accountancy Apprentice

Isabel has recently started an apprenticeship in accountancy and is working towards her AAT level 3 qualification. She loves her job and is enthusiastic about meeting new people.

Isabel is already developing her knowledge of cloud based applications so that she will be able to assist clients as they make the move to Making Tax Digital.

She is well travelled after living in America for 8 years and visiting many places in Europe such as France, Spain and Italy. She enjoys reading many fiction books her favourites being the ‘Da Vinvi Code’ series by Dan Brown and ‘Ella Minnow Pea’ by Mark Dunn.

Ella Cope – Accountancy Apprentice

Ella is in the first year of her apprenticeship, after finishing sixth form she decided an apprenticeship was the best way to start her career. She is currently studying level 3 AAT and after completing this and her level 4 AAT qualification, she hopes to become a chartered accountant by completing her ACA/ACCA qualification.

Ella has started to develop her knowledge of cloud based applications.

Ella enjoys running, reading, and is keen to travel in the future.
